Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds bringing a range of skills and aptitudes.
Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue’s team is carefully managed to ensure its highly skilled rescue teams are backed up by a recruitment and training program that ensures manpower resources are kept at an optimum level.
Being a volunteer at Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue means you will be directly involved with looking after marine rescue services in the northern suburbs from Alkimos Reef to Moore River.
All boat volunteers start as Crew-in-Training.
Volunteers who wish to serve as boat crew also assist operations in our very radio communications room. Some volunteers choose radio work exclusively. Mid-week availability is also helpful.
Volunteering with Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue is a rewarding and challenging experience.
Please note that we have a minimum age requirement of 18 years. [Check this with Commander]

Why become a Volunteer?
When you volunteer, you give part of yourself – your time, energy, skills and feelings. You give to your family and friends, to your neighbours, to your community.
Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group need volunteers who are willing to be trained as boat crew and radio operators. We are particularly interested in power boat and yacht owners and others with a marine background who live close enough to the Two Rocks marina to respond to emergency calls. If you only want to volunteer for radio duty, the distance from our Radio Communications Centre at the Two Rocks Marina Carpark is less critical.
People volunteer for many different reasons, including the desire to give something back to the community, to help others, to acquire new skills and experience and feel that you have made a difference.
Volunteering is also a way of saying thank you.
But there is more to volunteering than giving. Volunteering also provides opportunities to reap personal benefits and enhance your personal growth.
Volunteering can help you to:
- increase social awareness
- increase your social awareness
- gain new knowledge and skills
- improve your fitness and health
- improve your self-confidence
- discover your hidden strengths and talents
- build your self-esteem and sense of independence
- expand your social circle
- sea-time as a volunteer may count towards a commercial ticket
With volunteering, you get as much out of it as you put into it! And often, you get a whole lot more.
If you think you might have what it takes, get involved. You will find volunteering a great experience.
